In addition to providing rich insights into these four lifestyles, one elemment that the collaborators seemed to share, and that is a usual barrier when attempting to engage in changes, is the problem of being misunderstood.
Question: How could these lifestyle alternatives be conveyed, so they become socially understood and accepted?
Question: Moreover, could interventions be designed to promote the recognition of these alternative practices’ value?
Question: Could they even become mainstream?
Therefore, motivated by the feeling of misunderstanding shared by the collaborators, as well as the broad association of alternative practices, environmentalism and activism with hippie or radical subcultures, the present project proposes to design Communication Devices to convey alternative lifestyle practices’ value as choices that could respond to issues of sustainability.
